What is Housekeeping?

Housekeeping is the hotel department responsible for cleaning and maintaining guest rooms and public areas and for keeping room statuses up to date.
Every morning, housekeeping prepares the daily cleaning plan from the list of departing and stayover rooms. If the status of a room that has been cleaned and inspected is not reported to the front desk right away, the guest is left waiting in the lobby even though the room is ready.
Rooms found to have a defect are reported to maintenance and, if necessary, marked as out of order (OOO).
