What is GDS (Global Distribution System)?

Turkish: Küresel Dağıtım Sistemi

A GDS (Global Distribution System) is a global reservation network, such as Amadeus, Sabre or Travelport, that travel agencies and corporate travel companies use to book hotels, flights and rental cars.

GDSs are especially important for corporate business travel. To sell through a GDS, a hotel usually has to connect via an intermediary (a channel manager or a representation company) and pay a fee per reservation. They are not as widely used as OTAs among boutique and resort hotels.
