What is Night Audit?
Turkish: Gece Denetimi
The night audit is the process that closes the hotel's business day: room charges are posted to guest accounts (folios), the day's transactions are checked, and the hotel's business date is rolled forward to the next day.
The night audit is usually run after midnight. During the audit, reservations that did not arrive are marked as no-shows, cash and payments are reconciled, and daily occupancy and revenue reports are produced.
The hotel's accounting day is different from the calendar day: a charge posted at 1:00 AM counts as the previous day's transaction until the night audit is completed.
