What is Room Night?

Turkish: Oda-Gece

A room night is the unit of measure for one room sold or occupied for one night. A group staying 3 nights in 2 rooms accounts for 6 room nights.

All the core metrics, including occupancy, ADR, RevPAR and ALOS, are calculated on a room-night basis. Room nights available are found by multiplying the number of rooms by the number of days in the period.

Allotment contracts and agency performance reports are also usually expressed in room nights.

Formula

Room nights available = Number of rooms × Number of days
Example A 22-room hotel has 22 × 30 = 660 room nights available in a 30-day month.
