What is Allotment?
Turkish: Kontenjan
An allotment is a block of rooms that a hotel sets aside for a travel agency or tour operator to sell for specific dates.
The agency sells the allotted rooms to its own customers and returns any unsold rooms to the hotel by the release period set in the contract. What happens to rooms still unsold after the release period depends on the contract.
Tracking allotments is critical to prevent the same room from being sold both by the agency and through the hotel's own channels (overbooking).
