What is BAR (Best Available Rate)?

BAR (Best Available Rate) is the lowest flexible (cancellable) room rate publicly available for a given date.
Many hotels derive their other rates from the BAR: for example, the non-refundable rate at 10% below BAR, and the breakfast-included rate at BAR plus the cost of breakfast. That way, changing only the BAR updates all rate plans together.
Under dynamic pricing, the BAR can change from day to day.
