What is Overbooking?

Turkish: Fazla Satış

Overbooking is when a hotel accepts more reservations for a given date than it has rooms available. It can be a deliberate strategy or the result of a channel synchronization error.

Large hotels may deliberately overbook to a limited extent based on their cancellation and no-show rates. In small hotels, overbooking usually happens unintentionally: the same room is sold on two different channels at the same moment, or a closed date never reaches one of the channels.

The most effective cure for unintended overbooking is for every channel to receive availability from a single source in real time. Moving a guest who cannot be accommodated to an equivalent hotel (walking the guest) is both costly and a risk to the hotel's reputation.

In Zeus PMS In Zeus PMS, availability is calculated from a single room inventory and pushed to sales channels through the channel manager integration. Explore Zeus PMS →
